11th July 2009
On a cold and windy day, this game was going to be a tough contest. Parkdale had beaten the young Panthers earlier in the year so the boys were keen to atone for that.
The Old Mentonians had first use of the wind and managed to build a 10 point lead at quarter time, although Parkdale did have as many scoring shots. The Panthers did well in the second quarter to restrict Parkdale to one goal while kicking two themselves.
Just one goal was scored in the third quarter as Parkdale was held scoreless. A margin of 27 points favoured the Panthers at three quarter time but Parkdale had the wind in the last quarter. The Old Mentonians defended well in the last quarter to keep Parkdale goalless and post a hard earned victory.
Next week the Panthers take on winless and bottom of the ladder Melbourne High away.
